And The Winner Is

Thanks again for everyone who participated in the poll for Eric Vs. Bill in the Sookie series. Since we added the polling feature (which didn’t allow people to vote twice) we were able to get an indisputable answer in the question of Eric vs. Bill?
And the winner is…Eric with a whopping 84%!! I have to tip my hands to all you Eric fans out there. You are loyal followers and really banded together to bring in the votes. Bill fans did a nice job as well. At one point there was only 8% going for Bill, so the fact that you guys ended up with 16% is a testament to all your efforts!
Does anybody have another poll you’d like to see? If so, let me know and we’ll set it up!

LIVING DEAD IN DALLAS Book Review

LIVING DEAD IN DALLAS by Charlaine Harris (2 1/2 out of 5 Stars)

Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris
Release Date: March 26, 2002
Publisher: Ace Books
Pages: 291
Buy on Amazon
In the second book of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series, Living Dead in Dallas, Sookie finds herself getting more and more involved in the vamps’ world. Was it Michael Corleone who said, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in?” That should be Sookie’s motto because even though she knows better than to get mixed up with vampires, she always seems to anyway. This time it’s after she’s attacked by a maenad that she ends up owing Eric a favor. He wants her to go to Dallas to find out who’s been kidnapping vampires. The prime suspect is the Fellowship of the Sun, a sketchy group that masquerades as a religious organization. [...]

Eric Northman Vs Aro

So last week I asked who everyone’s favorite vampire crush was between Eric Northman (of the Sookie Stackhouse series) and Edward Cullen (of Twilight). I’m sorry to say for all you Twilight fans out there that it wasn’t even close. Eric won by a landslide. So this week, I’ve come up with a new question. In a fight between Eric Northman vs Aro (leader of the Volturi in Twilight), who do you think would win?
Here are a few stats if you need help making up your mind:
Aro
Location: Volterra, Italy
Age: 3,000+
Skills: Can read minds of anyone he’s touched
Pros/Cons: Although Aro is old, strong and cunning, he might be out of practice in a fight. As leader of the Volturi, there are plenty of people he can order to do his dirty work for him so he may need a refresher in vampire to vampire combat. [Spoiler if [...]

Edward Cullen Vs Eric Northman – Who Would You Sink Your Teeth Into?

Two of the most crushed on vampires as of late would have to be Edward Cullen (from the Twilight series) and Eric Northman (from the Sookie Stackhouse novels). So, who would you sink your teeth into? Here is a profile on each character if you need help making up your mind:
Edward Cullen
Height: 6′2
Hair: Bronze
Eyes: Topaz (or black if he needs to hunt)
Age: 104
Pros: Besides being a perfect 10 in the looks department, he’s also great at piano, can read minds, can function during the day, and has a sweet car collection.
Cons: Lives with his mother (and other family members), can read minds, will always be in high-school.
Eric Northman
Height: 6′5
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Age: 1,000+
Pros: Also easy on the eyes, Eric has many things going for him that make worthy of a crush. For starters, he’s the most powerful vamp in area 5, and owns his own bar. He’s also [...]

The Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge

Beth Fish Reads is sponsoring a challenge to read all nine books in the Sookie Stackhouse series by next summer. I love the Sookie Stackhouse books and I’ve been meaning to review them for some time now. It’s been awhile since I’ve read some of the earlier books, so I plan to re-read them and post my reviews as I go. You can read my review of the first book, Dead Until Dark, here. In my opinion, season 2 of True Blood is the best thing on TV right now and I recommend the books to all fans of the show. For those that don’t know, the books are about Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, who lives in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. In this world, vampires live openly among humans because they can survive on synthetic blood, which means they no longer [...]

DEAD UNTIL DARK Review

DEAD UNTIL DARK by Charlaine Harris

Sexy vampires, scary vampires, sparkly vampires – I love them all. Since one can only watch Buffy and Angel DVDs so many times, I’ve moved on to reading vampire fiction. One of my favorites in this genre is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, the first book in her Sookie Stackhouse series.
Sookie is a perky, blonde waitress in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana who struggles with her ability to read minds. She is constantly bombarded by people’s thoughts, which can make her a little distracted and only reaffirms her reputation as the local crazy. When vampire Bill Compton walks into Merlotte’s bar, Sookie realizes her telepathic ability only works on humans. Romantic relationships have been a problem for Sookie since she can hear everything her boyfriend is thinking, so she is immediately attracted to Bill and his [...]

DEAD AND GONE (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) Review

DEAD AND GONE (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) by Charlaine Harris

I’m not from the South, but Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels make me want to move to Bon Temps, Louisiana and live among the resident humans, vampires, and were-animals. Sookie may live in a small town, but as a telepathic barmaid who tends to date supernatural creatures, her life is anything but boring. The ninth entry in the series, Dead and Gone, begins with the were-animals following in the footsteps of the vampires by going on television to reveal their existence to the oblivious human population. The human reaction isn’t completely positive and soon a were-panther is murdered and Sookie gets caught up in catching the killer. She also gets dragged into the fairy war thanks to her great-grandfather, Niall, and we find out a lot about his world, the fae. As usual, Sookie also has lots of [...]
