DEAD UNTIL DARK by Charlaine Harris Sexy vampires, scary vampires, sparkly vampires – I love them all. Since one can only watch Buffy and Angel DVDs so many times, I’ve moved on to reading vampire fiction. One of my favorites in this genre is Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, the first book in her Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie is a perky, blonde waitress in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana who struggles with her ability to read minds. She is constantly bombarded by people’s thoughts, which can make her a little distracted and only reaffirms her reputation as the local crazy. When vampire Bill Compton walks into Merlotte’s bar, Sookie realizes her telepathic ability only works on humans.
