I think it’s pretty obvious that we here at Daemon’s Books are huge fans of Charlaine Harris and her immensely popular Sookie Stackhouse books. Curious about what she has planned for 2010, I headed over to her website to take a look. The biggest news is that the tenth Sookie book will be released in May. There’s a really interesting article about James Patterson and his publishing empire in January 20th’s New York Times Magazine. One staggering statistic from the article is that “since 2006, one out of every 17 novels bought in the United States was written by James Patterson.” The article also talks about how he works with co-authors and what that process involves. He addresses his critics by saying:

If you want to write for yourself, get a diary. If you want to write for a few friends, get a blog. But if you want to write for a lot of people, think about them a little bit. What do they like? What are their needs? A lot of people in this country go through their days numb. They need to be entertained. They need to feel something.

It’s a fascinating profile of the prolific author and I recommend you read it if you get a chance. Of course, the article got me thinking about what Patterson has on tap for this year. Check out his publishing schedule for 2010:

I also tried to find out if Lifetime is going to make any more of her books into movies like they did last year, but as far as I can tell, they haven’t announced anything. Bummer. I also found out that eight of Roberts’ movies are available on : Angels Fall, Blue Smoke, Carolina Moon, Montana Sky, High Noon, Northern Lights, Midnight Bayou and Tribute.
